    Probably none.

If you do a disc copy (assuming you're not going from DVD-ROM to DVD-R burner) then a temporary image is created on your hard drive which gets deleted when the process is complete (much like CDRWin.)

When you want to create an image of a DVD game and retain it for future use, then a more permenent set of files need to be created, i.e. the Global Image set (which with the Px Engine update will create 1.99GB parts so that even Win95 users can copy or save the files under FAT16 [2.0G file size limit. Win98/ME FAT32 - 4GB file limit.]

You can also just create a single straight ISO image with PrimoDVD or RecordNow Max, but the caveat is the file system used on your hard drive. If the original is larger than 1.99GB for Win95 users or 3.99GB for Win98/ME users, then PrimoDVD or RecordNow Max will error out towards the end of the read/file creation process. Of course, WinNT/2k/XP users typically run the NTFS file system and don't have to worry about file size limitations.

So, it all boils down to what your intentions are when you go to create a backup...

I just want to make a straight backup of a DVD game. So i should be safe with making a straight copy? Using my Pioneer a04 to read the game and then using it to write it? is that correct? But I have had trouble with a few games lately. The 2 are Timespliters 2 and NBA live 2003. Timespliters 2 dosen't even work and Nba Live seems to freeze during gameplay any ideas?

I have a DVD drive as well as a Toshiba DVD-RW drive. Is it ok to read the games with my DVD drive? Or should I read & write with same drive?

Yes. In a drive-to-drive copy there's no problem. PrimoDVD and RNMax can also image a PS2 disc from a normal DVD-ROM drive to a hard drive without a problem too. It's doing a raw data read controlled through the app, unlike Windows trying to do a directory reading and not understanding what the hell's going on because it's not an ISO-9660 or Joliet disc...
