My slim PS2 doesn't like my old DVD-R copies made with Verbatim. They all have a label on them, so that may be throwing it off. I have the Magic V slim KX and summ0ne fix installed on a V12.

Original DVD games load no problem and most CD-R's load as well. My thinking is to re-burn the games using good media again, just no labels. So what is the best media now available in bulk? And where is a reputable place to get it?

Here in Canada I have found spools of Sony brand purchased from Wallmart to be fantastic. Also I have found Maxell to be very high in quality. The Sony's are my first choice though. Not because of the Sony name but because Sony themselves manufacture them or they get Tayo Yuden to manufacture them for them. Both are high quality Japanese manufactures.

The list of stores is good. I usually order from Supermediastore or meritline and they are both quite good. I have't ordered from rima, but they have a solid reputation. I've ordered from Shop4tech once a while back. Their shipping time was a but lengthy.

I'm thinking pretty much what both you and Ronetone said. I was talking to my Dad (who has been doing a lot of research on DVD types, since he's trying to backup our VHS collection to DVDs) and apparently he's read in a number of places that putting labels on DVDs makes them unreadable by some players. That would surely explain why my Soul Calibur 3 backup isn't reading anymore. =(

As for backups i've had good luck with Memorex, but i guess i'm the only one. (And they go bad after a while or something? O_o ) My Ridatas have also served me well, with no complaints by others, so i'd say go Ridata. (or Verbatim, or Sony, etc.)
