What i need to do?
Hey guys. When i make a backup of a ps2 dvd game on a dvd-r, i plan to play it using the gameshark2/knife swap method. AFter burnign the game all i have to do is put in teh gameshark 2, start game , wihtout codes, and i know how to do the whole swap thing with the white thing. My quesion is will this mehtod not only worked for backing up games , but will it work if u download a full dvd image of the game and burn it. Do i need to do anything different if i download an image of the dvd than just copying it from teh original disk. Also, are there any other requirements (ex. i read somewhere that u have to have a game that has a bigger toc than teh original and do a double swap) If so could someone explain this method for me. Also, i have read that the knife method can damage ur ps2 if ur not careful. If i'm really careful and dont force anything how big of a chance is there that my ps2 will break?? Thank you in advanced.
1.) D/L full images and burning is flat out illegal and should not be discussed here. Read the rules.
2.)Knife/ccard is very dangerous and you will get a lot of flak for even mentioning it here. There are tutorials available. I suggest you search on it here or at the other sites like gamecopyworld or consoleworld.
3.)The double swap is also covered here and is EXTREMELY risky with a knife trick--you only have about a 10 second window to get the drive open and have enough time to swap the disk. Rushing this process can really damage your drive tray and wind up costing you more in repairs/replacement then it would cost to get a chip installed.
4.)In short, read the rules, stickies, and tutorials. You will soon understand why it is best to get a chip. Only copy games you physically have in hand. Avoid CD-Rips if you want to preserve a long life for your PS2.
Also, if you absolutely MUST avoid a modchip, consider purchasing a fliptop cover. It is much more reliable (not to mention safer) than using cogswap.
