I've heard that ppl are having problems coping EA games because you need a patch or something. I have a magic 3.1 in a V4 ps2. Would i need a patch to play EA games. And how do these patches work ? Are the burnt on the CD as well?

Simply, no patch is needed nemore.
For some reason I'm just having problem with this year's baseball game. First it was MLB2005, then it's MVP Baseball 2004. I have a v4 PS2 NEO2.5, so I have to do the GS double swap method. For some reason neither game will boot. I've looked thru this forum many times but it doesn't look like there's a patch or anything fixes. Do some of the newer games have a Double Protection Check? If so, how can we get around it with an older chip? Thank you in advance for your help.
Arrrrrr, yes ye'll need to patch EA games if usin' yon NEO chips.
Can you please tell me where and how to do the EA Patch for DVDs? I remember doing it for the old EA cd games, but I never heard EA Patching for DVDs. Is there a new tool? I think the old one was called Patch-o-matic or something. Thank you for your help.
It's a long shot, but since you are already trying a couble swap method, you might be able to get this to work.Originally posted by NoMoreNIU

This CD is actually for booting EA games (or other similar protected games) with the SwapMagic 2.0 discs and a no solder plug mod. Basically, you boot with this CD the same way you would boot any CD backup, load the TOC from an original DVD to switch it from CD to DVD and lock-in the larger TOC for your backup, and then swap-in your backed-up EA game.
I haven't tried it with other chips or boot discs, but it does work on a v5 with a no-solder plug mod and SwapMagic PS2 CD.
Good Luck!
