what DVD-R brand? and is PS2 compatible with DVD+R?

Princo- bad
Ritek- some work some don't as there are different ritek and also different ps2 models like different kinds

You should get a couple and try different kinds to see what works for your ps2, I usually use inexpensive name brands like TDK Verbatim Compusa as they are easy on the laser, there's a thread in dvd-r forum where silvertop meritline looks to be the best Cheap dvd-r. As for dvd+r they should work in PS2 V5 and newer #30001r #39001 and some people say that dvd+r work better than dvd-r in the V7's, but I don't know as I only have V4 and V5's
