OK, I was able to fix Vampire: Darkstalkers to work on my system. It involves:
1: Retail copy of Vampire: Darkstalkers
2: DVD Decrypter, up-to-date
3: A blank DVD disc
4: Free MCBoot v1.8b running on your PS2 (can be found at SKSAPPS.com)
5: ESR (can be found at SKSAPPS.com)
6: ESRpatcher (also found at SKSAPPS.com)
First, use DVD Decrypter to make an ISO image of your retail copy of V-Darkstalkers. Next, patch the ISO with ESRpatcher so that you can boot the copy through FMCB. Then burn the ISO to disc with DVD Decrypter.
Now, boot up your PS2 with Free MCBoot running and the backup copy of Darkstalkers in the tray. If ESR is loaded correctly, it should automatically come up with the bootscreen and be ready to load your disc. Select "Launch CDVD" and it will boot up to the Darkstalkers screen as before. Now when you select a game it should load right up!

@drake69, not to be rude to you, you explained that in good detail but you have describe the process to back up just about ANY game with ESR / FMCB.
As for finding those files ( FMCB V1.8b, ESR, ESR PATCHER ) yes that can be found @ sksapps, but mostly originated from this site.
Hence the " SPLASH SCREEN ". Anyway it's all good bro... glad you got it working.. DJ
