Valkyrie Profile 2 Silmeria Game Freeze

OK now, so i did some testing and it turns out to be IGR to causing the issue. Having a non corrupted save and continuing the game without IGR will cause no issuse as far as i have tested it. If you use IGR the game will freeze afterwards and your save will be corrupted (you will be abel to load/save, but you won't be able to finish the game).
If you started the game with IGR and already saved you will have to completly remove the save file from the memory card (you have to delete it, if you overwrite it in-game it will not resolve the corupption) and start fresh as there is no method to fix the save. None of that i know that is.

THX. Atleast it seems to be confirmed, that Mode6/Disable-IGR is needed for this game... (to not mark/flag/corrupt the save)

Hopefully this means that OPL is compatible to this game in every other aspect.

Honestly I got no clue what the problem is and I'm getting mad. I restarted a fresh game (no cheats, just use OPL in the recommended mode).

How do you know if the game is starting in IGR or not? (OPL keeps resetting options whenever I look in settings).

I thought you needed Mode 6 in order to play the game (which I have been, up until the half-way point immediately after you get Rufus' ring back). Playing the game without it makes no sense as the game would crash anyway.

I don't think it's a security issue, I think it's a loading issue, that some aspect of the disc won't load properly off HDD.

Someone needs to work on a patch for OPL for this game, it's driving me nuts!

If PC emulators can patch it to run, OPL should.

I would say attach your save but I am not sure myself if you can without 10 day 10 post rule

I would say turn off mode 3 and mode 6 both so the game will not notice OPL and no VMC also

Like I said, OPL doesn't save whatever disc settings it may have. I could turn on Mode 3 or Mode 6 and click "save changes" and go back to the menu then go back in and everything will still be set to "Off". :/

Ok what are you playing on SMB USB or Internal Hard drive?

I'm playing straight off HDD (fat PS2), and I can only seem to find OPL 9 (not sure which version I should get though).

I have 3 Saves:

Save 1: Just before entering Bifrost for the Time-Limit Run through the dungeon (the game plays normally here).

Save 2: Just before fighting Odin (again, no problems here, the game doesn't even have issues when you fight the dragon to get the ring of Mylinn back for Rufus.)

Save 3: Just AFTER you get Rufus back...the game crashes every time at this point.
--Transferring to a fresh Memory Card doesn't work.
--Loading from the DISC ITSELF doesn't work!!! (Tri-Ace you bastards! *shakes fist* )

I assume Save 1 and Save 2 are "time-bomb" saves that will become corrupt once you get the Ring of Mylinn back.

Okay guys...after over 100 hours of hard work and effort of starting fresh, I can CONFIRM that Disabling In-game Reset (Mode 6) does enable you to play the game past Yggdrasil onwards to the last legs of the game (hooray!)...HOWEVER...

I don't know if it has something to do with a corrupt sector on MY disc, or if I should just simply reinstall the ISO, but whenever Phyress is in the party, the game crashes. I have tried several configurations with her, and she crashes the game every time...if someone can confirm this, it'd help.

The good news is, the game itself does NOT crash on anyone else BUT her (so far)...even Lewyn who shares her voice has no problems running in-game, even with the Seraphic Gate moves learned/equipped. Rufus runs like a charm as well.

I'm gonna re-install VP2 and see if that will fix the problem with Phyress, so cross your fingers! (Also FYI Erhde, Phyress' Male counterpart you can recruit works just fine...it just seems to be Phyress that gives me trouble...probably due to her having the most voice interactions of anyone else in the game along with Khanon).

Edit: I should also mention that loading the game via disc from a save you created via OPL, Phyress will run just fine without glitches (since it's running off the disc instead), so chances are it's just a bad sector on the ISO or something just didn't get copied when it was installed.

Edit2: Just reinstalled VP2 and Phyress WORKS! So it must have been a bad sector on the ISO when I installed it before. Not sure if I should test every single in-game quote of hers with other characters, since it's not that important, but maybe people should beware of the issue anyway.
