V7. game loading problem
V7. game loading problem –
I just bought a v7 PS2 with magic 3 installed yesterday.. Its my first PS2 so I didnt have any original games so I brought GTA:SA from my friends and copied it by following the guides ( once with nero and once with dvd decrypter). NOw when I enter the burned dvd ( its a Ritek DVD-r), first it boots fine and goes to loading screen and halfway after loading it gives me a disk error and then it scratches the dvd. I tried 1 PS1 backup on cd and it works fine, the guy I bought it from also gave a a dvd-rip of "winning 7 eleven" on cd-r and it boots too.
whats can cause this problem, I heard dvd+r are better with V7. Is its dvd media issue or laser issue. Any fix? ( I neeed to know cz within two days I can return the PS2).
here is picture os the dvd after the loading screen:
before loading screen the dv was fine, also had same result with another dvd I burned with dvd-decrypter.
The azimuth was adjusted incorrectly. This is only needed if the PS2 has some hard time reading some kind of media, mostly DVD-R's. The pickup is lifted up so high that it scratches the media. I do not recommend keeping that PS2 as its laser probably dies in a short time, and you'll have to buy a new laser. No surprise why he gave only a DVD-RIP which is on CD, it reads those just fine, but not DVD.
but I tried to play dvd and it plays fine.. If I buy DVD+R is things gonna improve?.. Otherwise I have to return it.. ( I bought it for $90 with a memcard and three controllers, the console is about 8 months old).
You can try some other media, but if you run out of those 2 days, you'll be in trouble. Ritek media ius good enough for a backup, so it should have worked. I still would ask the guy for some of his DVD based game backups, and test those. If those work fine, and you can get such a media, then it's ok. But it's strange that a guy with a non swap mod can give you only ONE game backup and that is on CD... (and the problem comes when you use DVD...) Strange, and miracles may happen, but I cannot belive in them anymore. (especially after your 2nd DVD was also damaged)
hm.. seems it have problems with dvd.. I am gonna return it today. Is adjusting the position of azimuth a option. I can try that out before returning the system.
Azimuth as I already said was adjusted just to read SOME DVD media. If you try to adjust that, well chances to read DVD's again are little, but may be worth a try. (though adjusting is not needed at all if the machine worked fine... and as normal working does not mean scratched disks) I do not belive that it's worth the time. A new laser and the price of this machine would be more than a new machine.
