So I've been trying to burn the PAL version of FFX. I have it patched correctly and everything for running it with Free Mcboot. I went through seven blanks due to burning the patched iso with Imgburn and CDBurnerXp I kept getting errors such as burning to an invalid sector or something like that. Anyway so I used DVD Decrypter to burn the image and it seemed to work at first until it gets to the part before the first battle then it messes up and freezes. I burned another copy and it had the same issues. My current burner is an IDE Lite-On 20x DVD Burner I got about a year and a half ago. I was thinking about stopping by Bestbuy and getting another burner but I wanted to ask some input on this. Any help provided I would appreciate.

You problems sound typical for bad burns of some kind, though it is unclear what the cause is.

The most common causes of such problems are:
1: Insufficient DVD media quality ('no-name' brands or known bad brands/types)
2: Badly ripped ISO (I recommend "DVD Decrypter" or ImgBurn for ripping PS2 ISOs)
3: Too high or too low burn speed (underexposure or overexposure of the optical medium)
4: Aging readability of your PS2 DVD laser

A bad burner is of course another possibility, but a very very rare one.
But I did in fact have a burner give up on me recently, losing its ability to burn DVDs.
Still, considering the hundreds of DVDs I had burned with it earlier, it's 'death' was not entirely surprising.

I'm using Sony DVD+R's. I have been burning them between 1x-2.4x. I guess it may be the ISO, might try burning something else later to check. I doubt it's the PS2 considering it plays everything else perfectly.

If those discs were specified to have a max speed of 3x-5x, then those speeds are fine, otherwise you are definitely burning too slow, thus overexposing the photosensitive layer, which often causes read problems.

If you have only tried a single ISO so far, then the risk of an ISO fault being responsible does rise significantly. I'd recommend a fresh rip from the original disc, using DVD decrypter or ImgBurn.
