Trouble with burning file
Trouble with burning file –
I have tried to test and burn iso and gi files with Recordnow Max and keep ending up with ERROR -10 Sector 1026496, so far I have tried Devil May Cry 2 and Chaos Legion but without any luck ...any help would be great.
Sony DRU-500A Firmware: the latest one I think its 1.0g
I have also tried Nero but same result it usually happens around the middle of the burning process
you tried to backup both games and both gave you an error?
yes I tried both and same results I tried burning both at 1x and 2x and still error
It may be faulty batch of media, but my guess is that you likely have a problem with the drive. Ask the support folks at Stomp what the error code actually refers to and if nothing else, get the drive checked out/repaired if it's still under warranty.
From the manual of stomp.
The following table includes a list of error codes that may help you resolve any problems you have encountered with RecordNow. You may wish to consult this table if you intend to contact Technical Support to resolve issues relating to this product. Doing so may facilitate the support process, so that you may continue with your recording jobs as quickly as possible.

Question : Who do I contact to ask a technical question?
Answer : Email us at email@example.com or call us at 949-263-8560
Sony also has a live tech support. That you can ask online. You may also want to run it by them.
I have a dru500 also. I haven't had any problem with it, except I was running an ide driver program. Which was causing errors to occur when writing. I simply deleted the ide controller drivers under the device manager in the control panel. I then rebooted and let the system recognize the default xp drivers and all is well.
here is a pic of the error message I was getting...
thanks for all the replies, I have updated my firmware to 2.0e from 1.0g, installed winxp service pack 1a, and surprisingly still no go on 1x and 2x burn but, here's what puzzles me I chose max as my write speed and it burns ok hmm so why doesn't it let me choose 1x or 2x ..heh oh wells at least I got it burning thanks again
Looks like the freaky drive control within the firmware. The RMN/Primo engine tries to control the drive speed directly (same way CloneCD does)--and your drive may be conflicting somewhere with the control code. During init the media gets tested and the Pioneer drives will disable the software controls and force the disc to burn at the tested speed--that is why you need to have a "hacked" firmware that bypasses this override. I think the 500A firmware of choice for a similar effect was the f release...not sure since I've got a Pioneer. I had the same thing happen when I got a wild hair up my @$$ and tried to force a Princo to burn at 2X--but it failed within the first minute of burning. Forgive me Balto and Charlie...I was bored--and those @#$#@ things are only good for coasters anyway.
Setting the speed to MAX turns control over to the drive's firmware, so it should burn at the best speed detected for that media.
well I decied to do more things and it finally works, now it burns KHypermedia dvd-r's, I switched it back to PIO mode and turned off powerburn and works fine, now I just have to wait for the revisioned dms3 to see if they work
