Hi,
If I got a TDK DVD-R from someone, Is there a way to tell if it's a REAL TDK by looking at the disc?

beware, even thats not fool-proof. some companies use the TDK info on their dvdrs.

ADVDInfo may freak out with certain flaky ATAPI versions. If you get a lot of error messages or your machine locks up, try the Nero CDSPEED2000 that's listed in the sticky about a test utility for Pioneer drives. Aside from listing Manufacturer ID and Dye Layer composition, it will also tell you what speeds you should be able to burn the media at with your drive and firmware. It's easier to use then ADVDInfo (it gives all data in an easy to read page, instead of having to search the data strings seperately).
Good Luck!
