Swap Magic 2.0 DVD -- I'm having problems
Swap Magic 2.0 DVD -- I'm having problems –
Ok, I have a neo 2.2 in my system, but pins 5 + 6 arent connected (so the "hold reset to eject" doesnt work). I've been using an old gameshark2 (v1.3) to swap out CD-R's to play. Thats been working. But, I just got a DVD burner and I wanted to start playing DVD backups.
So, I bought a Swap Magic 2.0 DVD and I took the case off my PS2.
What I do is boot from the SM DVD, wait for the "Insert Disc" image, and then I take the case off the DVD-ROM and manually swap in my DVD-R.
When I press X to start the game, the border turns blue, and my DVD starts spinning but nothing happens.
What could the problem be?
I'm using a new DVD burner so I have tons of factors that could be causing problems for me.
1) My drive (LiteOn 815S) came with one Ritek G04 disc. I burned an .ISO of FFX-2 to this disc. When I view the disc in windows it only shows a handful of files. Is this normal? This DVD-R won't work in my PS2.
2) Could my neo 2.2 chip be screwing something up?
3) Swap Magic 3.0 CD *WORKS* when I swap in a CD-R game.
Any help would be GREATLY appriciated.
Here's an update to my situation.
Out of seemingly randomness, my FFX-2 DVD BOOTED!!
The FMV's played a little choppy though. What could the culprit be? The disc was burned at 2X on Ritek G04 DVD-R.
Should I tweak my PS2 DVD POT? ...or can I test if somehow my DVD-R is bad?
...or how should I proceed?
I've already tweaked my PS2 CD POT because it was having one heck of a time reading my CD-R's. I think my laser is pretty well shot but I can't afford $60 for a new one yet.
make u a dvd moive backup then play it in the ps2 u dont need no swaping with it just stick in and play then if its all choppy and stuff u prob got a bad laser i heard neos kill laser quick so thats probly the problem u can find all the dvd rips kits here
o btw what verion ps2 u have i got a R laser here pulled from v5/6 unit i was needing to sell i will let u have for $23 shiped
Thanks for the information.
Why did you give me the url for dvd rip kits?
I'll try that DVD movie thing. However, the FMV's from FFX-2 are choppy and thats basically like a DVD movie, right?
I'm pretty sure that all my CD-R use has worn out my laser pretty badly. It has a terribly hard time reading even the Swap Magic DVD disc.
As for the neo 2.2 chip... can the modchip itself have damaged my system? I'd think that my CD-R usage would have damaged it. If the chip is damaging it though, should I take it out of the system now that I have swap magic discs?
Lastly, I'm using a version 3 Playstation 2. Would the V5/V6 laser work in my system?
$25 sounds like a fair amount for a new laser. If your laser won't work on my system, where should I look to for getting a new one?
Should I tweak my pots before ordering a new laser?
o the neo prob killed ur laser but i also read version 1-3 dont like reading dvd-rs very well but i belive it was the neo 2.2 that caused the problems there know to do that they some how send more power to the laser buring it out quicker my firend had a v1 with a s-box he used it for ps1 copy games and normal ps2 games and it got weaker and weaker and no longer reads anything so he bought a v7 never botherd modding it and the v5/6 laser of mine wont work on v1-3 u could always check ebay they sell there laser r there for a decent price
