strange broken sword 3 and new ps2 problem

hello. i have encountered a very strange problem.
i recently had to buy a new ps2 because my old v4 with messiah 1 chip broke down. i opted for a new silver slimline ps2 with a matrix infinity mod chip and the chip is at 1.82 firmware.
everything i throw at it works great except broken sword 3 on DVDR. it wont work it boots past the playstation 2 logo then just sticks at a black screen after the screen does a little jump (like lots of games do when they boot).
this game used to work fine on my old ps2 with the messiah 1 chip.
i don't get it i have tried changing all the settings in the matrix infinity menu and reburned it and also downloaded a different version hoping to solve the problem.
has anyone else had this problem with broken sword 3 dvd and a slimline ps2 with a matrix chip.
any help would be great this problem is irritating me big time.
