    Hi guys,
I have been out of the scene for a while with my ps2, recently my son has gotten into it and I have been backing up games for him and he has enjoyed the modded unit for a while now. I have a ps2 V7, if I remember correctly, it has a messiah 2 chip in it, that I put in years ago. I have never had a problem with backing up games until now. I have backed up every game with no problem, just make an image using DVDdecryper, or Alcohol 120 and burn to a DVD-R. All games I've done boot with no problem, originals and backups until Star Wars Battlefront 2.

This game is strange, I can not get the PS2 to boot with even the original disc, nor any backup. I have seen the threads on how to make a backup and store to a HD, but I do not have any setup like that at all, nor do I know how. But I thought if I was to follow that battlefront workaround, and change the SYSTEM.CNF file then save back to the ISO and then burn to a DVD-R, but the ISO says its too large to fit. So I am completely lost on what to do now. Does anyone have any tips on what I should do? Is it that the mod chip is not going to be compatable with this game, should I upgrade to a new modchip? I have even tried to set the modchip bypass, by pushing the reset button to turn it off, but the game will still not work (with the original PS2 disc). My son is dying to play this game, and he is heartbroken.

One last piece of info, this current setup works perfectly with Battlefront 1.

    Any help would be appreciated!!
    Thanks,
    Lugz

It may be the SW Bfrnt2 disc is scratched or dirty, fingerprints, etc. I have it too and it boots fine with a modchiped console. If all other discs work, then i'd rule out the lens as an issue.

I would have to say its the game disc.

I've tried two different copies, thinking the same thing, and it does the same thing with both. And the second copy is brand new, no scratches nor finger prints etc.

Does your chip have a disable feature, maybe try that if it does. Other than that, i would try DVD Decrypter to make a new copy, then use it also to burn to a backup DVD. If you going to use it in the HDD just use UltraISO to extract the system.cnf, notepad to edit it, then UltraISO to re-insert it back into the ISO. This way it dont change the file size.

As i said I do not have a HD set up for this, so that option is out.

I did a copy with DVD Decryper and it doe that same thing as the original PS2 disc. burned on 2x, with a a-quality dvd-r.

Dont know what else to try.....
