I can confirm that works fine with hdloader .. 27 1/2 hours into the game I got
to the end of first .. this is what happend for me .

After defeating Crosel, you'll automatically be taken back to Aquaria. After
the events, talk to all of your party members. Cliff is in a hallway in the
castle; Nel is in her room in the castle (southeast section of first floor),
Maria is in the chapel, Arbel is on the main road of the city, Adlai is in
Claire's room (across from Nel's room), and Roger is in the food store. Also
talk to Mirage, in your room. After talking to everybody, head back to the
castle balcony (the doors are behind the throne in the throne room) and
    another event will start.

Prob 1 .. when the window pops up and you chose

    Skip event
    Continue event

If you continue event the game locks up when Crosel the flying dragon starts
    shooting at the ships

Prob 2 .. at this part of the game where it locks up the game is on auto .. your just watching .. I think thats the prob .. I tryed twice and could not get through
    it .

Fix 1 .. at least for me .

Load Disc 1 and your save at the castle and Continue event .. after after the auto part is over your on the ship head to Bridge .. talk and you are asked to save game and put in Disc 2

    Fix 2 hdloader

Skip event ..the game jumps to the ship .. no lock ups at all .. once your on the ship head to Bridge .. talk and you are asked to save game and put in Disc 2 .. or in this case start 2nd disc part with hdloader
and select your save and begin the 2nd part .

I have tryed both ways and it continues the game like it should .. I hope this
    helps some players

I tried not to read the post, so the game wouldn't be spoiled for me. So can u put disc 2 in the Hdd too? And once I pass disc one all I need is a save from disc 2 to load up disc 2 thru HDLoader? Just wondering, I hate the pauses inbetween dialog, must be a loading thing. I haven't put the game on my HD yet cause I didn't know how it would affect the game, seeing that you have to switch discs, and if the game is in my HD, I wouln't be able to switch up.

BTW this game is cool as hell, I'm getting Phantom Brave next payday!

sorry about spoilers .. 1st time to ever post about a game ..
you get the save to start 2nd disc at the end of 1st disc
you can start the 2nd disc from HD or disc as long as you
have the save from the end of 1st disc/hd .. I have played
27 hr plus off the HD and no probs at .. I like the fast load
times .. some people say it allready loads fast from disc but
I only played disc long enough put codebreaker codes in to
get more Fol and Exp and then back to HD .

i'm an idiot, should've figured, but when i looked at the discs, i noticed that they were typical square-enix 'hidden file' discs. so the remastering is out of the question.

thanks for your tips on the swap points
