splinter cell with no mem-card, does it work?

Hi,

I was wondering if "no memory card" is my problem. got kalisto (2 CDs) and when i try to start the game it says "want to continue without memcard" and then the screen just turn black when i press start. so i was wondering if it's because i don't have a memcard "i have one but my friend got it". Or is this some other problem like patch or something.

Got my memcard back and it still doesn't work any ideas?
by the way got a dms3.
with mem card it saves and start with a black screen and nothing happends.

installed upgrade 1.6c and now it works YEAH! stupid friend for lending my card so i had no chance to upgrade
