    i cant find the DRU0500A anywhere in stores or online anyone know where one might buy it? and for how much? or is everyone else finding its sold out as well?
    hopefully it'll be in stock after xmas.

    yeah....most stores should have another shipment around the 20th of december...that is when the next shipment is coming in.

    where abouts are you? Last i read the DRU500 was still available in the states. Although we've been having supply problems here in Oz it doesn't surprise me. Sony state that rather then being an instance where they aren't manufacturing enough drives it's more a matter of supplies drying out before then end of shipping cycles.

    Sony Australia's product manager for optical storage, Gordon Kerr, said the issue was all about allocation and timing.

    At this stage, Sony representatives cannot say for certain when more stock will become available. Supply from Japan is allocated on a rotating cycle.
    So there you go. How much they will be, well, don't expect the prices to significantly drop, because there's little to no chance of that happening. Although, they may be some variation, up or down, depending on economics when they land in your country.

    Try bestbuy.com. You just need to check back daily, because it's a hot items and goes out of stock frequently. Right now they are offering free shipping, so that's a nice option if you can wait for it to arrive.
