My ps2 is a v3 fitted with an *** modchip, it plays cd-r + dvd-r that a friend copied for me using his p.c. so i know the chip works. However every time i try to burn my own dvd-r's (ritek g04) i get nothing but problems. I have nero/express and the original record now that came with the sony burner. The problem i think is that the only dvd drive i have is the dru500a drive so i cannot copy on the fly. I've read the tutorial on using nero but the method used there is to copy on the fly. i've tried to burn an iso then copy that to dvd-r but i still get problems. So far i've wasted about £25 on discs can anyone please help, i've read the forum posts but nothing seems to work. I'M SLOWLY GOING NUTZ

RecordNow is good... So you went step-by-step with the tutorial posted at the top of the thread? This one:

If you're having problems with that, be more specific for info/problems... You're not gonna burn "on-the-fly" if your only dvd reader is also the writer...

Use Recordnow max make an image of the game and then burn that image to the dvd using recordnow max and you will bust into tears when you realize how easy it is.

It is never a good idea to burn on the fly anyways. Make sure you are using RNM 4.50 too. If you aren't download this file. It will upgrade you to 4.50.

Thanks for the reply guys, much appreciated. with regards to the file upgrade i should point out that i only have the really shitty veritas record now program that came bundled with the burner (not the 'max' variety) will the update file upgrade my bog standard record now to the all singing and dancing max version?
(sorry guys i'm a bit of a noob at all this - I know it sounds crazy but i've been chipping ps2's for 2 years now, starting off with the original messiah, but i never got round to buying my own ps2 until a few weeks ago- kind of a backwards way of doing things, don't u think?) once again thanks for your time.

There is a full version of RNM 4.0 out there for free download that will upgrade to the 4.50 version. Unfortunately this falls in the Warez catagory so I can't post the link for you. I will give you a hint though. It can be found if you search for free CDR recording software. Lots of goodies at one of the top hits you'll get.
