If I understand you correctly you said that you loaded your HDLoader and istalled the games throu there?.. Correct?.. If thats the case just try to use WinHIIP (do a search within this site)..
WinHIIP will be able to install your game quickly.. Plus you can then also write the file DVD9 portion of the game..
On "some" PS2's they have a hard time reading DL disks.. So in turn if you used HDLoader and copyed your disk from there-thats more then likely why its hanging..

I beet its hanging on the Tool gig isent it?.. Thats where the 2nd layer starts to brake.. Many peaple have had this proublem..
All I can say is if you would like to get away from all these headacks-use the ripkit and play the game throu a DVD5..

I proubley wasent much help sents I'm kinda drunked up a bit on my end..

ok, I finally have a psx-scene account so I can help you guys here other that Scooter having to copy and paste what I say from the other site(not to be mentioned).

here is a string of my failures,

my first burn was with just the Toxic patch on a cheap Memorex DVD+R DL and had NO success with the Swap Magic 3.8 elf, and Cogswap. I haven't tried Zoneloader, but I'm pretty sure thats not going to work either.

My second burn was with just ESR, then it booted up fine.
But when I was playing career, when I got the Tool gig(this is when it starts to read of the second layer) it would play the songs off the second layer.
Not even with the different versions of ESR, it wouldn't.


Finally, my last DVD DL($12 for 3), I decided to give it another shot.
I patched it with Toxic then ESR(GUI) and gave it another go. I was worried, cause I booted it with ESR r9b, and said "Unable to read disc".
So I tried ESR 9, it loaded up......SLOWLYYYYY. I mean REALLY slow.
Then I tried it with ESR 9a, and it worked like a charm.

I would have to say your issue is more likely the media (memorex) than it is with ESR.

You should try Verbatim DL DVD+R

Swap Magic of course does not work with DVD9 games.

Cogswap as some have said should work if you have a DVD9 Original larger in Size than the Backup you wish to play.

Your PS2 laser also needs to be in really good condition to play DVD9 backups.

Seems like no one else can get this to work with it ither..

I do not see how my PS2 is so special to be able to play my copy of GHWT with it..
I do not have a modchip installed or any other device other then FMCBv1.7

When I said my lens is busted, I thought that would be kinda obvious. My PS2 now only reads cd's. I now use FMCB because I knew it would only be a matter of time before my lens completely blew out. I've been using Winhiip since my first game, GH3. On December 28, I will be using my hard drive for a year. If I'm correct, GH3 is a DL, and Aerosmith? Because Aerosmith has never had a problem on my HD. Maybe there is a chance that my DVD Lens in my PC can't read both layers, but if GH3 is a DL, than it's not my PC.


UPDATE: It hangs on the Ozzfest, Stratters farm, AT&T Park, and Tool. Those are the only ones I've tried. And is there a special way to rip both layers? because I have read that it is legal to download the game if you already own it. If you have to edit this, feel free to.

I gotcha..

For starters:
GH3 has always had troubles freezing and what not with in the videos and some times throu out the game in some cases..
GH3 is not DL-Its just buggy with HDLoader

As for GH4:
Ya your running throu proublems with in the 2nd layer of the ISO..
You will more then likely have to make a DVD5 Rip..
You can use Apache (I suggest Apache 2 sents Apache 3 some times overwrites files from the 1st layer & the 2nd layer)

Yes you must make a folder with in your desktop and exstract layer 1 & 2 (of your ISO) with in that folder.. Once done put the DVD5 contents with in the same folder..

Then just follow the README with in the DVD5 RipKit for further info..
It will take about 1hr for the rip to finish..

Thankyou, and I discovered something weird. I was playing Louisiana, Swamp place, and it "froze". I started strumming like crazy, and I hit orange+yellow while strumming, and it loaded the song. I have no idea why this happened.

I'm using ESR beta 9rb, and the patched Guitar Hero World Tour disc works for me. Long load times, but I've played some songs.

You are saying you load up Retail SM 3.8, then swap for backup copy of DVD9 GHWT and it loads.

I have never had Swap Magic 3.8 be able to play DVD9 games.

Are you sure it will play both layers though?
