So I'm kind of a newb with ps2 rips but a veteran dvd movie ripper. With movies, its easy to pull out crap you dont want, extras/audio/subtitles/etc. Does anything exist to do the same for ps2 games? I have a modchip and wish I could do that with my backups...examples:

    - the 20 intro logos you have to skip thru in xmen legends 2
    - the unskippable THX logo before soul calibur 3 that's so annoying, I dont hate Jar Jar as much anymore

can you just pull movie files out if you find the right one? is there prog that can view/edit to shrink em?

well, i believe it is possible, if you use something like iso buster to break down the iso into files and then use something to open certain files from those files to access more files which you can delete or something like that. Honestly, im sure it is very possible, but not as easy as movies, and would most likely be a task you would need to follow a tutorial for. I know that if you want to backup 'God of War'; you need to rip out certain bonus movies, and I have done that before.

concerning your question, there is no "all-around" program out there that can rip anything you want out of any ps2 game (unlike movies). At least not to my knowledge.

yeah i tried that. i used xilisoft video converter to shrink the files on xmen2, after ripping them with isobuster. xilisoft can read the movies as mpeg2, so i crop em down to 1 sec and rebuild the iso with the new file. ive tried it a few different ways with isobuster and/or cdgenps2, but all the ps2 does is boot to black. browser sees it as dvd video. any ideas as to why?

should i rebuild the iso as udf? tried both way, no luck. i guess my question now is what am i doing wrong in rebuilding the iso? i tried using isobuster to export the tree and then cdgen to fix/not fix the LBA, which im not sure is necessary...neither way helped. does the game need to see the files with original LBA, or adjusted to the new file sizes?

how did you rebuild the iso with god of war? i own that too, so i could try it.

    thanks
    dude

not sure. im not looking to archive cutscenes, im looking to kil logo intros. xilisoft video converter can read sofdec (.sfd) files but i think the audio is some proprietary codec, as it just becomes noise when you try to convert it to mpeg2/4.

try searching, there's quite a bit of talk about extracting videos around here.
