RecordNow MAX freezes

hey all I'm trying to copy some DVD-R's I have here, and I made the GI images w/ recordnow, then I bought some HQ 4x media ( http://www.meritline.com/hq-dvd-r-4x-dvdr.html ) and when I burn @ 2x the progress bar freezes, but the drive looks like it is still writing. it is taking way tooo long, I have been forced to abort at one point, but It happend again.
I have:

Cendyne A05 drive w/ original firmware
RecordNow MAX 4.50
HQ media ( http://www.meritline.com/hq-dvd-r-4x-dvdr.html) Burned @ 2x

Please help, I would hate to think these DVD-R's are soo crappy I can't even burn to them!

Do you have the clock counting down then it hops back up about 10 seconds? If so this is normal. Just let it do it's thing.

Nope it was freezing up on me completely

but being the genius I am I have resolved the problem, sorry I didn't polst warlier, the problem was the secondary masters tranfer mode was on PIO, so I changed it to DMA, and problem solved.

The thing was it was a new problem this was the first DVD I had attempted to burn after I "upgraded"

to windows 2000 from windows XP, I didn't even think it was the OS...

yes shame on me

but I have resolved the problem (approx 15 min after I discovered it

) so that puts me back up to Genius status
