when i try to make a global image it splits it into 3 gi's 1 is massive 1 is couple 100 mb's and the other is tiny couple kb's can i burn these to dvd disc? in the tutorial he only mentions 1 gi

I believe you want to burn the smallest one

you have the px engine. it splits the game up. burn the smallest one. works perfect! i just starting using that program for ps2 dvd games and it is the bomb. follow the tutoiral and you will been fine.
