question for the pros
question for the pros –
im just about to go nuts from a problem with my magic 3.1 red. its a complicated problem so please bare with me and please share your insight(s).
i own a v7ntsc and its very new with no problems. i install this chip and everything i mean everything BUT dvd-rips work. CD-Rs do work but dvdrips don't. could it be the 80min toc issue? perhaps but then why is paradox mp3 player with an 80 min toc working? i have checked the installation over and over but have found no problems. After thinking of everything/anything that is wrong i have come to the following possible conclusions and i need help picking out which one it is most likely.
1) there is a wire or more that are meant to be soldered for 80min and/or dvdrip booting purposes (perhaps one of the MNOP points which go to patch the bios?) and it is not installed correctly and i can't see it or there's a bridge.
2) the ground of +5v wire is not thick enough therefore i need thicker wire.
3) i have started to mess around with .bin images of the dvdrips and started to take notice of the LBAs... mainly that of the 'system.cnf' file. one image shows an LBA of 25 while another one shows 26 while another one shows 43000. Therefore something is wrong in that regard and the 'system.cnf' has to have a certain LBA value to boot correctly. (I do not know the value).
4) the MNOP wires are too long and it takes too long for the signal to get to the bios therefore i need to shorten the wires.
..... there you have it. i dont know what im gonna try next. the dvdrips can't be the problem (i dont think so anyways) because they work on my friend's v5ntsc. he's using gs2 w/ neokey if that matters.
but yea, i really need help on this one because im starting to get headaches. any help is greatly appreciated. thank you.
