ps2 v1 alternate W? -- DVDR wont boot

Hello all,

I've searched the forum and found nothing really. There is the alternate W point shown at china-magic but that seems to be for v3. Maybe this isn't even my problem. I have a v2 with a magic 3.1 original. I can boot and play cdr with no problem but dvdr doesn't seem to want to boot at all. Just get RSOD. Is this my W point? Is there an alternate point on v1 for this point? Any help would be great!!

most likely it's the lazer, most older units dvd laser dies before cd laser, and it can read dvd originals sometimes, but not backups.

I actually just replaced the laser about 1 month ago with a version B unit (afaik this was common in v3-v6 units)

i want to know too..

arnuga can you post that link were u saw that alternate point? i got a v4 and was readign originas just fine, after installign the chip only boots cdrs
