Your console has a laser with a damaged/worn out photodiode (DVD).
The only way you are going to get that console to read DVDs again is to replace the laser.

Please take note that such a console (SCPH-10000, SCPH-15000 and SCPH-18000) has a KHS-400A laser.

The DVD player installation disc cannot be downloaded, as it has got a lot of security checks on it that prevents the disc from being run on a console with modchip, or off a burnt disc.

Also, a SCPH-10000 console that has BIOS v1.01 will probably reject the original DVD player installation disc (v1.00), so you must look for one that can certainly run on your console.

The installed DVD player cannot be copied either - because the DVD player is signed for use on each individual memory card.

My SCPH-10000 console (With BIOS v1.01) still has a working laser and has the DVD player v1.01 installed on one of it's MCs, so I was fortunate (I don't have the DVD Player installation disc though).

If you don't want to/can't get the laser replaced, you could try to install FMCB on one of your MCs, so that you may boot homebrew without a working CD/DVD drive.

If you install FMCB, you may use PS2 game loaders like PS2ESDL and OPL to launch your PS2 games from a USB device (Preferably a USB HDD).
    Unmodified SCPH-77006 with SM 3.6
SCPH-39006 with M-chip modchip, SCPH-10281 NA and refurb Seagate 80GB HDD
SCPH-10000 v1.00 with SCPH-10190 PCMCIA NA and SCPH-20400 HDD unit

You should try to get another KHS-400A laser, although I heard that KHS-400B lasers will work too.

I also heard that KHS-400C might not be mechanically compatible with the SCPH-10000.

By the way, there's a compatible laser called the KHS-400Q that might work too, since it's a KHS-400B compatible.
And there's the KHS-400W that is a compatible laser that seems to be designed to work with the SCPH-10000.

Of course, these are compatible lasers, and are not manufactured by Sony.
It's up to you to decide whether you would want to trust them.

As for the X-modules, you cannot get them legally if you don't own a newer console.
Those modules are taken from a BIOS dump of a newer console, and are copyrighted by Sony.

As TnA said, you can find them if you did a Google search for "xmodules.rar".

It's because there's no post in this forum that says that the X modules can be found in an archive named "xmodules.rar" on the Internet via a Google search.

For the rest of us that use Google often, we'll automatically search for it, but newbies won't know that.

Perhaps that FMCB install guide for SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000 consoles can be updated to state that?

I didn't knew it also, but just thought it would be common sence...

    Yepp, that's it probably...

    Good question.
I don't quite remember yet, but I guess yes (all letters big).
