    Hello.
Well, yesterday I got my DVD recorder LG 4081B and I burned 2 DVDs so far.

I burned Sonic Heroes and Whiplash.

With Sonic Heroes it was kind of easy because the image was already in ISO format.

On the other hand, Whiplash was in GI (global image) format.

Well, I downloaded RecordNow Max to burn these GI images, but my recorder doesn't appear to be compatible with this prog. :-(
My LG CD recorder (2001) is compatible though

Well, I wanna know if there's a way to make the program recognize my recorder (I'm using version 4.5).

Whiplash had to be converted to ISO in order to be recorded with Alcohol.
I burned Sonic Heroes with Alcohol too.

These 2 games work fine, but I have problems booting them. I can't direct boot them, I must use a bootlike CD, like GameShark or CodeBreaker.

Could someone tell me what do I need to do in order to correct this?

    Thank you.

That burner is not in the curren tlist of supported drives, but you can get a PX Engine update and it might recognize it then. The last one I found (01/04)was here:

    http://patches.sonic.com/downloads/e...xEngine507.exe

As for the booting, without a properly installed quality direct-booting chip, you will have to continue using the swap method (unless the games have anti-mod code in them and they are detecting the chip, in which case you will need a "stealth" mode or patch the game)

    Good Luck!

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! But, hell if you can tweak that bastard just a little bit more....hehehe.

Thanks for the help. I'll try this PXEngine to see if my recorder gets recognized.

As for the booting problem, it's not actually a modchip problem because in Alcohol for example, if I use an image with the format MDS (Alcohol default) then I can select which kind of CD is the image about. Then, if I choose Playstation 2 and start burning, the game will direct boot with no problems.

The problem happen when I use an unknown kind of image like the ISO image, which I don't know why, is not correctly usable with Alcohol.

    Weird, isn't it?

Well, yet another reason not to D/L images and burn them (aside from it being illegal in most countries, as well as not supported here) Only burn images you have created from a disc in your posession. Use your burning aplication to image it. This ensures consistency through the process. If you must insist on using a taboo process, get an app designed to handle the format you are using--DVDDecrypter is a great ISO burner, but if it is a split ISO you will need the MDS file to stitch them together, otherwise it won't burn properly.
