  1. #1 problem with burning games

I tried burning the Getaway and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance last night and ended up wasting 2 DVD-R's. I have burned games before and they worked fine, but tonight wasn't the case. I have a Pioneer 104 DVD burner and used Khypermedia DVD-r's. I didn't know if maybe the dvd-r's I used were the problem or not because I burned Vice City and March Madness on the same type and they worked great. I burned them at 1x speed as well. Does anybody know what the problem would be? Getaway wouldn't load at all and MK would freeze at the loading screen. I also tried burning MK using RecordNow Max and got the same result. Could the dvd-r's I am using be the problem? I would appreciate any help I can get. Oh yeah, I have a version 1 PS2. Thanks.

Dollars to doughnuts it's the media. Get a few TDK, Verbatim, Maxell, or Apples and try it again at 2x, not 1x.

Actually those are the "generic" that office max carries and a couple of times when I was out of discs I had to pick up some of them, and they ALL (2 ten packs) worked great even for gta3 and gtavc, so I wouldn't think thats the problem unless you just got a bad batch, sometimes "bad" burns just seem to happen, a couple of things that may help is to defragment your hard drive(as is being discussed in the other thread) this can cause a bad burn if the image files are too broken up, if you do alot of making and burning images and installing and deleting different programs this can cause fragmented files, also running alot of other things while burning can cause "bad" burns as well, but those Khypermedia work great for me (very very fast load times as well)

Hi, I just burned The Getaway with my Pioneer 104 using Prassi Primo. I burned at 2X using Ritek media. It booted up fine and so far no problems. I did Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance last week also with Prassi using Fujifilm media with no problems.

I just got finished burning MK a few minutes ago. I used the same type of DVD-R, but used RecordNow Max to burn the disk. Does anyone know where I can find a guide to use RecordNow Max to burn movie dvd's?

JWG-- the movies will need to be Spruced up before Primo can burn them. Seems I read a post somewhere that SpruceUp is hard to get ahold of right now. You may be better off using something like Ulead Movie Factory to import the mpeg, create the menus, and burn the DVD in one shot. I rip my DVD's with smartripper first. If the whole disc can be backed up and fit on one DVD-R, then I do a straight copy in Primo, or back it up without Macro and subs to shrink it if it's close, then use Primo to burn the files back to the DVD--this will require you to disable the checks for valid name format, just make sure its in the proper structure (VIDEO_TS, etc). If it's over the limit of one DVD-R, I convert it to DIVX, then port that through Magix DVD to CD/DVD and it works out just right.

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! But, hell if you can tweak that bastard just a little bit more....hehehe.

Use DVDxcopy to copy movies, Unless of course they are DVD9 format then do it the hard way

Yeah use dvdxcopy if they fit on 1 dvdr and if not get DVD2ONE its a brand new dvd9 to dvdr "encoder/compresser" I was a little skeptical at first but it seems to work great

You rip the dvd with smartripper use Dvd2one (it compresses whatever size down to 4.3 gigs) then burn with Recordnowmax/Nero ......done, only bad thing is it doesnt keep any menus but still seperates chapters and the quality is very close to original...... finally a nice dvd9 to dvdr solution, try it you'll like it

RNM and other apps can't directly copy a DVD movie because when they notice the CSS encryption they'll refuse to make the copy.

DVDXcopy and DVD2One are your best shots. Although I haven't played with DVD2One yet, word from those who have say it's suppose to rip just the movie portion in 15 minutes or less to a single DVD-R...
