please HELP desperate!!!!!

i have an asian ps2 (not sure of the version but its about 1 year old) with a magic 3.1 chip.

i can boot psx copies, originals.
i can boot ps2 cdr rips.
i can boot dvd silvers.
i can boot originals from any region.
i can watch dvds.

MY PROBLEM IS I CAN NOT BOOT DVD-Rs

I have tried copies i made myself, downloaded isos, downloaded gi files. i have used recordnow and alcohol 120.

i have burnt at 2x and 4x. on imation, and cheaper.

i have a pioneer a106 with the 1.7 firmware and i have updated the px thing as well after reading the faq here.

i put the disc in and it spins for a bit, then the red screen of death pops up. i have tried different boot methods, booting an original first etc.

PLEASE ANY EXPERTS HELP ME OUT, offer me some advice. i am about to go crazy especially after splashing out for the burner and burning up about 5 very expensive coasters.

any advice, opinions welcome!

ok i am really pissed now.

i have burnt up another 2 400 yen coasters.

i used dvd decrypter and recordnow max (at 1x took almost an hour).

same thing for each dvd, it copies fine.. i put it in my machine and get a streaming sound-->followed by a little subtle click-->finally a big click (not so big) and the red screen of death!!!!!!!


WTF am i doing wrong?? i feel like ive wasted my money grabbing dvd drive and i know ive wasted 3000+ on coasters.

Sounds like the chip is not installed correctly!

Also the MAgic3.1 can not play V7 protected games, and possibly can only just play DVD9 games.

But I would suggest more so that the chip is not installed well or that your laser needs a clean / adjusting.

i bought the machine chipped from a shop, so i assume the chip is properly installed.

i can play silvers and dvd9 silvers so 4.7s should be ok, right?

what is the best way to clean the laser? a standard laser cleaning kit?

ok so basically the only thing that wont work is dvd-rs.

which by process of elimination makes me think im doing something wrong when burning or the media or with the images..

do they need to be patched....? checked?

i tried recalibrating the laser and no change.. used a cd cleaner and when i looked inside it all looked beautiful and dust free..

could anyone give me a step by step map of how you go from RARS to a BURNT DVDR ??

i use nero 1 to 1 copy. my v7 has a messiah 2 but if nero doesent work im pretty sure you have a bad install
