Pioneer DVR-106 Will not burn a DVD-R correctly

I am trying to create a backup of The Sims: Bustin' Out. In Nero I keep getting this error that says Unknown BurnPhase. It will finish writing the DVD-R, but it will not boot. This burner is about 1 month old, and I cannot get it to write DVD-RW disks either. It burns CD's fine. I am Using Nero 6 Ultimate Edition. Here are my system specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2100+
512 mb DDR ram
40 gig IBM (Hitachi) 7200 rpm 8mb hard drive
Windows XP Pro

Anybody have any ideas on what could be wrong? I tried updating the aspi drivers to no avail. Anything else that needs to be changed or updated? What about the DMA settings that some people talk about? I have been burning PSX backups for years with no problems at all. HELP!!

I might not be right here but i have had ppl returning some cdwriters to me after getting clibration errors etc with it, i have tried the drives with different programs and had no problems whatsoever, so i;'d suggest using recordnow which i use with my pioneer 106 and have sucessfully "BACKED UP" Sims Bustin Out. If not then get the writer sent back

Make sure your 106 is set as master not slave too.

I THINK i figured it out. I uninstalled Nero and re-installed it and it worked like a charm. Thanks guys for your suggestions!
