I bought a Philips DVDRW228 the other day, not having read any forums or anything to know what was reliable or not (yeah that was dumb ) so I want to know if anyone has burned successful backups with one...also is Fujifilm DVD+R decent media?
    Thanks,

If you have a v5, v6, or v7 PS2, then the laser should handle DVD+R, but no guarantees. The vast majority of the community uses DVD-R, which is known to work in every version PS2 (and Xbox) out there.

The choice is yours, but you have no actual pressing need for DVD+R, you can't go wrong with a Pioneer DVR-A04 (retail bundle) or DVR-104 (barebones OEM drive.) No clue on DVD+R media either, so you'll find out one way or the other, eh?

As for software, you'll need RecordNow Max as PrimoDVD has no support for Phillips or HP drives.

Personally, if you have the receipt, take it back and then check out www.pricewatch.com for the A04 or 104...
