I'm not sure if this belongs here, but I recently put P3:FES onto a Verbatim DVD-R 16x at half burn speed (8x) with ImgBurn after patching it with ESR 0.24a.
When I put the disc in the PS2 it doesn't auto-boot to ESR, and it takes a good 2-3 minutes to start up after I manually go to ESR.
After it starts up, the menus take about 3-4 minutes to load, also in-game at loading screens it takes like 2-3 minutes to load, every time.
Also, I downloaded the undub rather than backing it up(because I hate dubs).
Could this be a bad burn, a problem with the undub patch, or maybe it's just that the game has some incompatibilities with ESR?
I got the Persona 4 undub as well, it doesn't take long too load things, but it takes like 20 sec. after the characters make their talking-like movements for the dialogue box to come up.
Should I try backing up the non-dubs and seeing if they are different? Maybe I should be burning at a different speed?
    Thanks in advance.

Also: How fast is OPL, and can I use a Western Digital USB 3.0 External HD with it?

Again, sorry if this is the wrong place for this.

I also use Verbatim -R 16x DVDs as well.

I had a similar kind of problem the other day when making a backup of Xenosaga Episode 1. At 8x speed it would take a while to load certain things during gameplay. For example, when loading a battle, it would take half a minute for even one of the characters to load and come up. And during each attack, it might take 10 or more seconds to load the other attack. It hardly got far into the game before crashing and it crashes at a certain point every time.

What I ended up doing is making another copy writing at 4x speed and it loaded better but the game still took a while to load things and it crashed a couple of times at different points.

Finally, I made another copy writing at 2x speed. The game runs great now I haven't had any problems since. I've been playing for a couple of hours so far and no problems.

So I'd suggest burning at a slower speed to see what happens. It might work for you like it did for me.

Well by loading I meant like at loading screens. I'll try burning at a lower speed and see how that goes. Thanks for the reply.

Edit: It runs faster now!! Thanks.
