Here it goes. post your version of Modchip, version of PS2 and media type with comments, and let's see if we can get a stickified thread going here. Should help people make better decisions when buying media, and we just may all find the holy grail of all media.

    Rules:

Please don't thread crap - If you do I will not hesistate to notify a moderator and possibly even get you banned. Keep chatter out of the mix please. (Well, not banned, but um, er... )

Do not quote replies - It will just serve to mess up an otherwise neat thread. Also, if possible, disable your signatures for this thread. This just serves to make things look nice. If you insist, it's ok.

Unknown media? - In the case of unknown media, if you cannot identify media, try your best to use Google using any markings you can. If you cant find out the maker, then don't post, as the info will be useless for the most part. In case of DVD-R media, use this utility to possibly help identify. And thanks to the almight Balto for LMK about this utility to identify CDR's --> CDRIdentifier

Have fun guys. I'll start it off with the next post...

    MEDIA USED:

    - Princo DVD-R: Quiet operation, loads quickly
    - Princo 80M CD-R: Causes console to make soft squealing noises, loads quickly
    - Fujifilm 74M CD-RW: Quiet operation, occasional red screen
    - Vivastar White-top/blue bottom: Quiet operation
    - Imation 16X CDR: Causes erratic lens operation [clicking rapidly], 2 CD's caused same problem with different games.

All cdr's were burned at 16X/Using CDRWin on a Plextor 24x10x40 drive (unknown firmware), with burn-proof off (can supposedly cause gaps, even if stream is uninteruppted)

Are you sure that's not Princo rather than Prinko...

LOL! Google? For CD-R media there's a nifty app called CDRIdentifier and for DVD-R there's ADVDinfo to identify the manufacturer from the ATIP track.

You also failed to mention your DVD-R burner, your firmware rev, and the burning apps you use. All factors in a successful burn of either CD-R or DVD-R/+R...

    - TDK DVD-R: perfect @ 2x
    - Apple DVD-R (IDed batches as Verbatim and Maxell): perfect @ 2x
    - Meritline Certified 2x white-tops: perfect @ 2x
    - Princo DVD-R: Sux eggs. Failed to boot, long load times, skipping: both 1x and 2x attempts.

    CDRWin v3.9a (legit key)

    - Verbatim Colors: perfect @ 4x
    - Verbatim ValueLife white top: perfect @ 4x
    - Verbatim DataLife Plus AZO: perfect @ 4x
    - HI-VAL 80min 1x-16x generic silver tops: perfect @ 4x

P.S. Don't even think about the threat of us moderators banning anyone if your little thread doesn't turn out to your liking, eh?
    Bad assumption on your part...

LOL - If Nero was paying you a nickel for every time you've managed to mention that here, you'd be a rich man by now...
