  1. #1 Newbie Alert - Pioneer 106 Firmware Question
    cargodog Guest
    Guys,

Done a bunch of searchs and just wnat to confirm what I am understanding as far as Firmware updates for the 106 goes.

I am just heading out to buy an OEM Pioneer 106 and want obviously upgrade the firmware once I install.

The question is pretty simply. Should I be upgrading it to the NIL 1.07 firmware as posted as being available... OR are there bugs in that and should I be installing a different firmware?

Tried the search, just want to make sure I'm on the right track and don't botch this up.

I have already found all the answers on how to burn/backup on this great forum!!!

    Thanks guys
    Cargodog

I had some problems with NIL's patch for my A05, so I stuck with the original Pioneer firmware and all was good.

I know that Pioneer recently released a new firmware for the 106 so you might want to check it out. A site I visit regularly is http://www.firmware-flash.com

I'm still using the original fw on mine. It works fine, when I see a bug, I'll fix it.
Why the **** would I want a Caravan that's got no ****in' Wheels ?

Firmware is not only designed to fix bugs, but to allow for newer media types to be recognised at correct speeds. I couldn't burn a batch of Princo DVD-R at 4x until I upgraded the original firmware on my A05.

Had no problems with nils firmwere for the 106(a06), it is based on the latest 1.07 firmware from pioneer and thus has the latest support for dvd-r discs

I burned princo 4x dvd-r no problem also ritek 4x same results

I JUSD DONT RECOMMEND THE 2x DVD-R HACK

DO NOT RECORD 1x MEDIA AT 2x AS THIS HAS READ ERRORS ON THE PS2 AND OTHER MECHINES

Are you just refering to the A06? Cause many people here including myself burn their 1x Ritek at 2x. I have never had a bad burn with a game or movie.
