Hi, I'm gonna get a mod chip installed on my new slim line PS2 by mid next week. I just want to kind of get a step by step instructions and info on backing up games. I have a DVD burner(of course), and a couple of burning programs. I've heard from a few people that it's best to use DiscJuggler, so that's the program I'd like to use for this. I also like to use DVD+R's, usually from TDK or Sony.

So what should I do/keep in mind when burning? I'm probably gonna burn on 2X or 4X just to ensure a safe, quality burn. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Most people find DVD-Decrypter to be the easiest program to use to back-up your games.

hi, i have been lurking for awhile and thought this would be the appropriate time for me to make my first post.

first of all, burning at slower speed doesn't necessary ensure a better burn. i have a slim ps2 and i use dvd decrypter to burn my games. i usually leave my burn speed to max (which is the fastest the media supports, 8x). yesterday, i flashed my 3540a with a hacked firmware which gave it better media detection and now my burner is burning at up to 12x on 8x media.

anyhow, my point is burning at 8x or faster works great, for me at least. so far i have used tdk DVD+ 8x, philips DVD-R 8x and have no problems. by the way, which modchip? of what i understand, mod chip also plays a role in media compat. (i have matrix infinity with v1.5 firmware)

i see i see. fred is a cool guy. did mine not too long ago. and trust me, you do not have to burn at 2x. if anything, my slower burned disc is harder to read than my 6x+ burned discs.

Ah that's cool. I've been reading nothing but good things from the guy. So do I just take it in whenever during business hours? How long does it normally take? I've asked emailed Fred these questions a few days ago, I assume he's really busy and he gets tons of emails daily. I figure a customer could be able to answer my questions.

umm, just take it in to him. it will usually take about three days or so. he can theoretically do it in 4 hours, more or less, but since he gets a lot of xbox's and some gamecubes, i guess work piles up. plus it's more or less a part time job for him.

also, the fastest way is just to call him and ask.
