New G04? Darker purple bottom?
New G04? Darker purple bottom? –

Hi all, I posted these questions on a different thread, but there is a lot of information, so I decided to start a new thread. Hope this is ok procedure :O Here it is:
~ ALL PRICES CANADIAN! ~
Just found www.blankmedia.ca
They seem to be a reliable site, as discussed here:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/30355
My question though:
What do you guys think about DVD-R 4X RITEK SILVER [RI-R4XYS]
Here is some data they include at blankmedia, if this helps you They are selling a 50 pack for $82 CAD.
"Ritek dvd-r 4x with a frosted top and dark purple bottom. These are a new batch of G04. These are not Ridata branded but also come factory sealed in bundles of 50 pcs. They are true Ritek media and come direct from Ritek but are unbranded."
Format: bulk packaging in 50 pcs
Media Code Mfr: RITEKG04
Formatted Size: Blank
Total Size: 4.7GB
Book Type: DVD-R
Media Type: V2.2 DVD-R
Media Code Id: Unknown
Write Strategy Speed: 4.0x 5540KBs
Current Drive Speed: 4.0x 5540KBs
Default Rotation: CLV
Linear Density: 0.267um/bit
Layers: 1
Media Code:
00 6C 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 76 0E 14 .l...@....R..v.. 88 9A 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 34 00 .....RITEKG..04. 00 00 00 00 05 88 80 00 00 00 01 00 06 08 12 11 ................ 86 67 80 00 07 88 80 00 00 00 00 00 08 05 1B 0E .g..............
Above, what does ".. are not Ridata branded.. are unbranded.." mean? Is this not desireable for some reason? Because they do mention that they are "true ritek media." And as I hear, darker bottoms, such as these, are easier for the ps2 to read? But what about this "frosted top" business?! Ah, all these terms :P
Also, I've seen some Ritek being sold that have the tag "Ritek/RiData." What exactly does this mean?
For instance, www.banzaicracker.com/catalog is selling:
"Ritek/RiDATA DVD-R 4.7GB, 1X/2X, $1.30ea., 100-Pack
$125.00"
Thanks, appreciated :O
Oh, one more thing.. let's say with the "new G04s" I mentioned , and the a06, is it just a matter of trial and error to determine which burning speed (2x or 4x) is "better?" I've read some posts about reliablility of various burning speeds, I'm just curious if this particular combo is any different
Sorry for all the questions, but answers to any/all of them would be great
