need some info about RW
hi all, I got a 50001 v9 and I want to upgrade my matrix infinity chip , but I dont want to waste a cd-r just to burn the update, so I tried burning a cd-rw just to upgrade , but my ps2 didnt read it. My friends ps2 can read RW , can it be my ps2 or the brand of the rw? I am using a samsung rw , it has a very dark color. I will try to buy another brand of cd-rw to see if it will boot. but if someone has some info about it and can help me I will be thankfull.
Another think I noted when working with ps2 dvd-rip cd-r , the ps2 makes some louder noises than when working with ps1 cd-r , is it normal? i dont know if a cdr with a fullcd (not a rip) will do the same noise. I am just trying to make sure my ps2 will work for a long period.
anyway, my ps2 is a v9 with matrix infinity and the romeo mod.
Thanks and sorry for my poor english , I hope you understand what I said and if not feel free to ask me and I will try to explain. :)

Try another media first though I am not sure the machine will read CD-RWs after you did the Romeo mod. Anyway, how much does an empty CD-R cost compared to a new laser in worst case ? Still would go for the CD-R upgrade, and would not care that much about RWs and saving one CD-R. Anyway it's up to you.

The romeo mod simply lowers the voltage to the LA, and this will cause reading problems with LOW quality media *you can call a RW as a low quality media, as its reflectivity is so low* There are a number of threads here too, that describe the reading problems after doing the romeo mod. The romeo mod is a safe solution to keep your BOARD alive, but it has disadvantages on the other side. This seems to be a bad design of Sony, there is not that much we can do with it. (and never forget, Sony lasers have NEVER been the best ones, so when we talk about RISK, well it can be taken serious)
