Nope all should work fine but you need a slide card to swap for the games and better DVD-Rs those will kill your laser.

im using +r's but it shouldnt really matter.
im also using a memorex dvd+rw to write the games first at 1x to make sure they work. once they do im using dynex brand dvd+r w/no label (just a silver top that makes it look generic). once im out of those (pretty soon) im using tdk dvd+r's.
i think the thing you have to remember the most is just burning it at a low speed and you should be fine.
btw... im using nero and dvd decrypter for the burning incase you wonder what programs to use

Wrong. PS2s have alot of variation in the quality of their lasers and what they will read. Cheap media is really a gamble in this respect. Also you have to learn to read through the BS of in store media. Most labels DO NOT make their own media, they outsource to different manufacturers with varrying quality standards. Verbatim is a pretty solid choice, just avoid the Pearl White line as they are made by Ritek (GAG) and their quality as of late is about on par with the cheapest quality Chinese made media out there. Of course some idiot will surely come on here and say that he/she has burned XXXX number of discs on Ritek, Princo or some other cheap quality media label with no problems. Well, even the lowest quality POS media has success stories. What you need to do is compare your own experiences with a number of others that are out there to get a clearer picture. I have been doing research into optical media (particularly DVDR) for the last 3 and a half years. Guess what, the same manufacturers keep coming up over and over again as being ahead of the rest: Taiyo Yuden, Mitsubishi Chemicals (aka Verbatim). As secondary choices I would go with Maxell or Sony media that is MADE IN JAPAN. These are made by Sony and Maxell themselves and they usually have pretty high quality standards. That being said I would avoid the 16x Taiyo Yuden media as it isn't quite up to par with the rest. The 4x or 8x discs are excellent though. The burn speed is also a myth. A good quality DVD Burner, up to date firmware and high quality media solve this problem. This whole thing about slower burns on DVD media = better results was started in the earliest days of DVD Burning when the technology was still new and only the cheapest quality discs were semi-affordable. The others who use the same combo that I listed above report the exact same results. I burn at max speed all of the time with no problems. As for which format to use. It is generally agreed that for videogame consoles a quality DVD-R disc is just a little bit more compatible than a quality DVD+R disc (even with the booktype set to DVD-ROM on the +R discs). Not saying that the vast majority of people who use +R won't get them to work, I'm just saying that those who stick to quality DVD-R discs tend to experience the least amount of hassle.

FIRED is absolutely correct. Buy Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim(you can get them online at this site http://www.supermediastore.com/). You likely will not find these in stores(maybe Verbatim) and then Maxell and Sony..but only if the package says made in Japan. Many people agree that you will damage your PS2's laser and wear it out faster by using crappy media. If you don't feel like searching for media in stores, you might be better off investing in a cheap and compatible hard drive for your PS2.
Get -R's like FIRED said, make sure your burner can burn -R first. Good luck.
