I've been doing some reading and checking prices for a dvd burner to make ps2 backups with, and i need some advise on what i should get for less than $200. i notice every one is alwalys talking about pioneer a04 and 5 but i have seen burners going for cheaper, like toshiba and 1 other i can't think of the name brand right now, anyway will these cheaper ones do the job or do i need the pioneer?? or what is some other good ones??? all advise and details about how or why one is better than the other will be appreciated, this will be my first burner so i'm trying to do my homework. THANKS

Pioneer A04s are very good dvd-r burners, they serve purposes for data dvd, ps2 dvd and dvd movies, and are cheap now that the A05s are out.

That sony dru-something is a dvd+ & dvd- burner, but its very expensive (at least in my area, 650$ CAD).

If you're looking for under 200$, try for a Pioneer A04, they are great

toshiba SD-R5002 is working fine for me. bought it for 200 (look at pricewatch.com for lowest prices) but the cendyne for 169 is better bet if you can get it for 169

the dvd-r can also read dvds so you read the dvd from the dvd-r drive it copies data to your hard drive then you insert a blank disc and the drive copies the data from the hard drive to the disc
