    i have an nec 1300a with a firmware update to a 1.09, it can burn dvd's at a 4x. my question is since i have my burner as an external is there away where i can burn at the max speed of 4x unstead of .4x which isnt a full 1x? or is it as long as its an external it wont work any faster.

    I think you'll need USB 2.0 to burn at full speed. If you have USB 1.0 the data transfer is not fast enough to burn at higher speed.

    I thought saving 15% on my car insurance was good but having my ps2 modded by N£TM£ÇH was way better!

    You can always buy an enclosure and make the 1300a an external drive with usb 2.0 support...a friend of mine did that to his...

    thats whagt i already have an external hdd and external burner, my usb though is an 1.1 but i see that your friend has a 2.0 usb device but my computer does not support that unless i buy a 2.0 or firewire buscard.
