i have an nec 1300a with a firmware update to a 1.09, it can burn dvd's at a 4x. my question is since i have my burner as an external is there away where i can burn at the max speed of 4x unstead of .4x which isnt a full 1x? or is it as long as its an external it wont work any faster.
I think you'll need USB 2.0 to burn at full speed. If you have USB 1.0 the data transfer is not fast enough to burn at higher speed.
do you know where i can find one at?
You can always buy an enclosure and make the 1300a an external drive with usb 2.0 support...a friend of mine did that to his...

thats whagt i already have an external hdd and external burner, my usb though is an 1.1 but i see that your friend has a 2.0 usb device but my computer does not support that unless i buy a 2.0 or firewire buscard.Quote:
