Near-perfectly burned backups as easy on the laser as pressed?

It seems that perfectly burned DVD-Rs, like Taiyo Yuden TYG02 burned with a good burner, scanned to ensure PIF and everything else is very low and beta/jitter perfect, would run almost as flawlessly on the PS2 as original pressed games. I notice there isn't a lot of talk in the PS2 backups scene about the quality of burns... People just say 'buy good media,' but there's a lot more to it than that. I've never seen actual scans posted.
So, if I burn some near-perfect backups, they should be about as easy on the laser as a pressed original DVD, no? I still intend to use HDL for everything that I can.

Hrm... I thought the PS2 had poor error correction, therefore the laser stresses a lot more, rereading stuff, when you have a low quality burn.
