My crap dell burner

Can anyone help me i cant burn my iso i made with gta:sa.... its on my hd and i cant get my alcohol120% to burn it on my memorex dvd+r.... my burner is a nec_dvd+rw nd-3100ad.... which i got from dell when i put my computer together from them... i also think i got a dual layer... i dont know for sure if it is but do i have to get dual layer disc to make my burner work or is it backwards compatible... cause i cant even click the button to make the burn process start... its a faded button if you know what i mean and some other options are faded also so i cant choose them..... any help would be helpful thanks....

People on other forums tell me its the firmware... my burner cant read -r... which sucks... Can you guys recommend a burner that will get the job done right? I want something around the almost high end range that is around the 200-350 range...
