Hello All. I suppose this may have been asked in the past, however had alot of trouble finding anything related to it.

I was wondering if anybody has been able to have more then one ps2 game on a DVDR at once, for instance hold multiple dvdrips, or maybe even 2 full dvd games. Reason I ask this is that I can save some time and moeny by putting more then one game on a disc, allowing me to backup multiple games onto just the one disc, in 1 hour (assumign i burn at 1x).

Thanks to all who help, and i am sorry if this has been asked before.

There's quite a few threads started on this, not sure what ever came of them though. It would require some homebrew work to put a menu in there probably--a bit advanced, not too mention bothersome just to save a few pennies.

I can always find decent CD-R for 25 cents or less a piece. Even managed to nab a few cakes for just a buck or so after rebates. Hell, Circuit City once had some 100 pk Jensen CD-R's in a cake for just $10 after rebate. At best prices for Quality DVD-R, you're gonna pay over 80 cents each in bulk--unless you plan to buy an @$$ of them at once. You sure this would really save that much money?

    Just a thought....

If it ain't broke don't try to fix it! But, hell if you can tweak that bastard just a little bit more....hehehe.

It is possible. I will put a link to a tutorial I wrote. It is in spanish, I hope you or someone you know can translate it enough to undesrtand.

You wont really save much time because is a quite complex and someway limited proccess but it is a nice experience.

You can save disc storage as you can put from 3 to 6 games, depending on the number of files they have in the root directory and their size and you can combine entire dvd's with rips.

From my point of view the more benefit goes for PnP users, because this way they can boot 80 minutes rips since a DVD is used.

You will find the tuto here:

    or here

    -zymba-,
I followed your instructions as best as I could. I used Alcohol 120% to mount my DVDrip BIN/CUE files and copied the files into the USB Loader directory.

I edited the MSYSTEM.CNF file to boot the correct SLXXX-XXXX files

compiled the DVD and burned the ISO using Alcohol..

The DVD boots fine, and I can select the games from the loader menu. The games title screen will come up but then freeze.
Any ideas? Did I miss anything? Directory structure, ripping etc. Do I have to edit SYSTEM.CNF?

Can you also quickly explain how to get around to 30 filename limit by puting the games into directories?

    Hello,

If DVD boots right and you can select the game list, the creation process is right.

Probably you are having problems with DVD Checks.

Original DVD games ripped to cd need DVD checks removed in order to work properly on a CD media. You must restore these DVD checks to the file(s) in order to work on a DVD media again.

These checks usually go in the mail elf, but can be found in other files as well.

This can be a complex process. The simplest thing to do is to find the rip kit for the game you are using in the compilation. YOu surely will find one or some ppf's that alter the files to remove checks. You can reverse what these patches do.

Other method would involve to dissasemble the files to find the checks in the code and know what to change, but this is reserved for poeple with mips 9000r assembly language knowledge, group which im not included

I wrote a tutorial in ps2ownz.com, under dvd-rip section in the forums. It is in spanish, hope i will get some time to translate.

Ok. I went back to your original posts, and see what I missed -- it was in part 2 of the tutorial.. What do u think my odds of success are if I just search and replace through the SLUS file for?

    DVD CHECKS

    2D 80 80 00 - > 01 00 10 24
    2D 10 00 02 - > 14 00 02 24

Is it worth trying? or is it basically a sure thing that I need to get the PPFs?

Seems like great work u did! Too bad about the DVD/CD checks being so annoying! I was really hoping to get those DVD backup RIPs to play with my SM disk

Keep the board updated to your future work!

    Hi again,

I am not sure of the chances of that working because those strings can appear and be part of other sentences nothing to be with checks, maybe too risky. I normally look first in alucard.cc for the availability of a kit before starting to work with a game.

Other thing to do is to find the elf from the original game, but maybe to hard and also other files can be involved.

Not much more can be done. If rippped games would include the reverse ppfs would be easier, but demand should increase too much for that to happen, i think.

    Zymba,
ok --- I think I got everything figure out today.. thanks for the link to alucard, was a great help. I've been going through the ppf files with a hexeditor (the ppfxtractor didnt work with version 3 ppfs) and can easily find the codes in slus files now.. Anyways, Ill try again this week, and let you know how it works.. I think getting the multiboot is more fun than the actual games
