actually this may be more of an appropriate place for the post...

sorry guys for hitting with the same thread more than once... oops!

Just had a customer bring back a station that I just modded for him...

He did so cos 90% of his PS1 back-ups are on Mitsubishi CD's, these all worked on his modded PS1 - but the modded PS2 would only play 10% of them. So he is not so happy...

On the other hand the same PS2 played 100% of all my back ups on different media - I have about 7 different CD media types and all worked fine... even the cheap ass ones...

The PS2 also played all PS2 back-ups...

So the install is obviously flawless...

Question is - this is a V7 station - should I risk tweaking his laser in the hopes of getting it to read these media?

Is it possible that the refractive / reflective index of Mitsubishi blank CD-R's is that shit that it fails when all others work?

They are blue bottom... but so are all my verbatum etc...

would it actually do any good to tweak the laser like it used to with PS2 V3 stations that had poor lasers?

I attempted to make a back up of one of his back-ups but that did not work either so maybe the PS2 is less tolerant to missing data bits from bad burns or shitty CD media....

Any one used mitsubishi CD's before? they are cheap - but are they crap as well?

He has a Mitsubishi burner - not sure which model - is it likely that the burner is also crap...?

Any thought on this one guys?

Tweak or not to tweak?

Tell him that the mod is working - he got what was paid for and that I can not help him with poorely burnt CDs - even though they did work on his PS1?

Is the PS2 laser really that much craper than the PS1 laser??
