Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance <--> DVD9
Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance <--> DVD9 –

First of all, I knew every technique on burning Ps2 games and never had problems. Since, I havent been into PS2 burning and everything for a few months, I've sorta forgotten some things. But I ran across something I never dealt with and that is the DVD9 format games. Since I just got a premodded PS2 and can FINALLY play my DVDR games, I rented MGS2:S and wanted to burn it. And it appeared to be 6GB, way to big for a normal DVDR. So I was wondering if you can buy DVD9 media from Office Depot, Best Buy or any stores like that? Or do they even sell those on the market? and IF they do, what namebrand is it, will it be clearly labeled DVD9 anywhere? and will it work on the DVR-A03 burner? Hope you guys can help. Thanks.

Mmmm MGS2 Substance is not a DVD9... i guess is some kind of copy protection, because if you copy the files on hd manually, it's less then 3Gb....
I'm still looking for a way to copy it!!!

You're right sharker, my mistake... i've just found out that windows can only make me see one layer of the dvd...
if anyone knows a way to copy it, even ripping the skateboarding game, please let me know...

Well I know that windows can read both layers!!! How do you think it reads DVD movies?? For those of you that do not know this, almost all recent DVD movies are DVD9s, being in excess of 8GB in file size just for the movie itself. I know windows cannot recognize the file format of normal xbox games, but that is simply a windows limitation... not a hardware one. I am not too sure which would be needed, but if a custom firmware/driver/software were written specifically for dvd9 data reading (perhaps RAW?) then we would be in business.
Of course Kalisto was able to read Xenosaga to their computer and rip it, so we all know they might be able to do the same for MGS2-Substance. Maybe a version of linux is able to do this? Who knows lmao...

Hey man cool off.... I didnt say that windows can't read more than one dvd layers, i perfectly know that dvd movies are dual-layer... and my win can read them... I've simply said that in windows you don't see the second layer of the Mgs2-subs dvd. That's all....
If you try to open the dvd with folder view it says it's only 2gb and half, but when you try to make an image with primodvd it comes out to be 6gb... that's why i tought at first that there was some kind of copy protection.
I repeat... just cool off please.
