Is there such a thing as burning at too slow of a speed? I heard that it's possible to have a bad burn/disc if you were to burn at a really low speed. For example, your disc says 16x but you burn it at 1x. I always thought the slower the better.

My dvd burner sucks and can only go up to 2x, and most games I burn work fine, so probably not, at least from my own experience.
Most people would recommend burning at 1/2 the discs max speed. So for 8x discs, then burn at 4x
Yeah, that's what I heard too.Originally Posted by ace1

4x seems to work best for me.. but to be honest I havent really seen a any difference 4x or 8x... any way to tell which is better for 16x media?
If you've got good disks, does burning speed really matter? The same amount of laser energy would still hit the disk, from what I've been led to believe. I've got a burner that'll go up to 12x, and I just leave DVD Decrypter set to "Max" speed, and it's produced perfect backups for me every time. More often than not, it burns at about 8 to 10x. I'm currently using Maxell 16x DVD+R disks, and my PS2 reads them fine. I dunno, that's just me.
