Hey guys I just came back home with my official copy of GTA San Andreas (NTSC) and I am comfirming that it is indeed a DVD5! It shows up as 4.19gb on my computer. As I am writing this I am making a legal backup copy of my game. After that I plan on putting it on my official 40gb hard drive and will post results.

Update:
1) I have successfully loaded GTA San Andreas (NTSC) into my official 40gb hard drive and it loads with no problems without any modes enabled.
2) I have also successfully made a (legal) working backup of my copy of GTA San Andreas. Also seems to be working fine with no problems. It should be noted that I am running a version 5 PS2 with a DMS3 v2 modchip (DMS Flash 2.4 Beta 3)

Hello, congrats on ur purchase of GTA: San Andreas!!!! I am in the UK so i have to wait till the 29th
Just a question have you saved any games yet on GTA San Andreas? Just wondering because it dont work too well for GTA Vice City when loaded on to hdd due to some time stamp or summat.
cheers,

Update 2:
I just confirmed that GTA: San Andreas saves and loads correctly without any time stamp issues.
Please be aware however that I am using HDL_Patch 0.5 by Zer0-X with the latest time stamp patch (which is 3 according to Zero-X's readme file)
Because of that I cannot confirm if GTA San Andreas has any time stamp issues without the timestamp patch applied. (Am working on that.. Will post soon)
