hi, I am interested in making compilations of games for both the PS1 and the PS2 from my originals, so that I can fit multiple games on a single disc. For most games this is a piece of cake, and I can simply rebuild them without any issues, but for those which require their files to be in a particular order, things can get tricky.

i've read about how to patch/remove LBA tables from certain games, such as by ffgriever, but how this can be done for games in general? i'm currently trying to rebuild Resident Evil 3 and Doom, but the damned LBA dependencies are preventing me from doing this. how can i find and remove them? if ffgriever, or anybody else who knows how to do this sort of thing could help, i would be extremely grateful. thanks.

p.s.: the mention of PS2 games was mostly just to keep this post "safe" within this forum, since there is no dedicated one for PS1, and i mainly do this for PS1 games.

I don't think you looked closely enough, as you just missed seeing our forum for PS1

thanks, but none of that actually addresses removing the LBA checks. that's what I wanted to do.

Rome wasn't built in a day read through all the guides to gain a better understanding, it's not easy to do and that's why there isn't a tool to do it atm. To be honest it's not worth the effort, in your case of wanting to load mutiple games on one disc, I could understand if you where actually modifying a game but what your wanting to do is pretty pointless since you can load games off a hdd or through lan using opensp2loader or PS2PSXe disc based booting is oldskool not mention games run slower via cdvd, disc based now only really needs to be used when the other two options fail. RE3 is also protected by libcrypt.

I read both threads that you linked to and niether pertained to what I want to do, and niether of them contained any guides to speak of, so what "guides" are you talking about?

and I wanted to do this for fun on my original PS1, so of course PS2PSXe is not an option. and by the way, you mentioned RE3 having libcrypt, but that was never an issue for me; I once rebuilt RE3 with PSX CD-Gen 1.5.4.0 by putting the LBAs in the exact same location as originally, and even managed to add the additional files on top required for the game compilation menu, and it booted up perfectly, but it was silent due to the rebuilt image not having XA headers for the audio/video (XA/STR) to my knowledge.

so while I would yes like to wipe out the LBA checks from the game executables (due to some games having "conflicting ones", for example), and would appreciate any help with that, I would also like to know how to keep the XA headers intact. do you (or anybody else) lnow how to perform that last step?

and I've seen posts by ffgriever where he mentioned how to do it for specific games, which is why I'd really appreciate some help from him on this if possible.

EDIT: but kevstah I just noticed this post by you in the Resident Evil thread: "...you need to wipeout the lba and crc checks from the executables to insert files of a larger size I have about a quarter of these documentated atm when i've finshed"

which would imply that you know how to do this. how did you perform this?

Hmm what release of RE3 did you use? I heard one of the US releases went unprotected what game id does it have?

    http://www.crimson-ceremony.net/lost...game/index.php
Also PSX CD-Gen 1.5.4.0 is bugged it produces currupt iso's use cdgenps2 instead.
Atm i've only messed with RE1 and that's what I have documented, not all 3 yet.
If you read both threads you'll of seen the various programs I provided megaupload links too http://www.thegshi.org/vb/threads/37...4599#post34599 they contain various guides of which I suggest you read

yes, I have the original US release of RE3, the very first one, not the later one with Dino Crisis demo or the greatest hits verison.

yes, it does appear that I overlooked your links in that post, but since you only posted a link originally without any sort of explanation at all or anything it was open to misunderstanding; I didn't know what to look for, since you didn't say what to look out for in the threads... and now I have read them, they don't really help at all in removing the lba checks, mainly just "sidestepping them", and they mostly seemed to be PS2-specific (e.g., "lbatablefinder"), and you even said so yourself in that post that you were trying to do it, but couldn't find a way (implying that the guides/applications didn't do it for you either)...

anyway, I still want to know how you removed the lba checks. like I said in the last post, I read in the RE thread that you had done this and even documented it, but can you tell me how you did it? if you truly know how to do this, why not just tell me how to?
