How to make a Lego Star Wars Demo Disc
Don't know if anyones posted this on other games but you guys know those PS2 Magazine Demo Discs that come with the PS2 Magazine, well put the disc in your dvd drive and you will see the folders of the playabe demos for example here is what the September 2006 issues DVD looks like:
SCE_DD
SCUS_975.36
SYSTEM.CNF
LSW2
ATVDEMO
DH
MXVSATV
20199
THPS4
CBPS2
JETX20
Now this was my situation, I wanted to play the Lego Star Wars demo on HDloader but didn't want to add the extra 2.2gigs of the rest of the demo disc to my HD (The disc is 2.68 gigs, the Star Wars demo is around 400MB)
So I tried just taking the files out of the LSW2 directory (LSW2= Lego Star Wars II just in case you havent figured that out) and adding a system.cnf that directed it to look at the demo elf and throw it all in the root of the disc but that failed. So I just got a idea just to make a system.cnf and direct it to the folder itself. So what I mean is this:
SYSTEM.CNF
LSW2
That is how the cd and iso look like
This is the SYSTEM.CNF I wrote:
BOOT2 = cdrom0:\LSW2\LSW2.ELF;1
VER = 1.00
VMODE = NTSC
This is the order the files in the LSW2 directory should look like:
GAME.DAT
LSW2.ELF
SYS
(I used Apache 2 to find the correct order)
SO I compiled the cd and wallah it boots like a regular PS2 retail game without the annoying PS2 magazine menu to boot it from and is only 400mb in size!
Now I don't know if this will work with other demos but im sure it will. So if you get this magazine its a nice thing to know if you have a mod on your ps2
