For those like me that own of latest Guitar Hero releases, but has no Guitar controller.
I would like to play Guitar Hero with my DualShock 2 gamepad.
It is theoretacally possible, making a hook for the libpad functions.
This hook process should translate Guitar Hero Guitar inputs into DualShock ones.
If someone is interested on this, please let me know.
EDIT 2010.09.02 - PROBLEM SOLVED! ;-)
"1) Unplug the controller
2) Boot up the PS2
3) When it says "press any button to rock", plug in the controller while holding down the left arrow for 3 seconds"
"After some more testing, i found it can be done anytime.
For example, go to the quickplay menu and hit "single", a message will pop up saying to connect a microphone. Dismiss that message and unplug the controller. Replug the controller while holding down the left arrow key. Now, you should be able to select the option "single", not by pressing X, but by pressing R2 (green fret). You can now select the song and continue playing."
"The controls have changed:
Plus you strum with the up/down arrow keys, analog stick"

"Looks like it works, but it will stop after the game saves... probably there are many ways to avoid this, like to turn the autosave off or anything like that." (Papelplaysguitar)
"I tried it with Smash Hits. And yeah, it's exactly as PT said. I booted up the game, got to the main menu, unplugged, held left, plugged it back in. I didn't have to hold left for an extended period of time, etc." (ManOfMrE)
